Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Curious Owl website, member portal, and related content and services (together, the “Service”), operated by Curious Owl Digital Services – FZCO, a free zone company established in the United Arab Emirates (“Curious Owl”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).
Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account, purchasing a subscription, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
1. Who may use the Service
1.1. The Service provides self-paced digital content and interactive materials designed for young people, organised into topics and modules.
1.2. The account holder and the person entering into these Terms must be a parent or legal guardian who is at least 18 years of age and legally able to enter into a binding contract. The account holder is the contracting party and is responsible for the account, for any children they add to it, and for all activity under the account.
1.3. Children do not create accounts or contract with us directly. A child accesses the content only through a profile set up and authorised by the account holder. By adding a child to your account, you confirm that you are that child’s parent or legal guardian and that you consent to their use of the Service and to our handling of their information as described in our Privacy Policy.
1.4. You are responsible for supervising your child’s use of the Service and for ensuring it is appropriate for them.
2. Accounts
2.1. To use the Service you must create an account and provide accurate, current information. You are responsible for keeping your login details confidential and for all activity that occurs under your account.
2.2. On a single-member subscription, one member profile is provided. On a family subscription, up to three member profiles may be provided, each with their own login. Login details for a child’s profile are made available to the account holder.
2.3. You must notify us promptly at hello@curiousowl.ae if you believe your account has been accessed without authorisation.
2.4. You must not share, sell, or transfer your account or login details to anyone outside your household, or allow more members to use the Service than your subscription permits.
3. Subscriptions, pricing, and payment
3.1. The Service is offered on a monthly or annual subscription basis, depending on the plan you choose. Current plans are:
- Complete – AED 69 per month or AED 499 per year, for one member.
- Family – AED 799 per year, for up to three members.
3.2. Prices are stated in UAE Dirhams (AED) and, where applicable, are inclusive of or subject to Value Added Tax (VAT) in accordance with UAE law.
3.3. Payment is processed securely by our third-party payment provider. We do not collect or store your full card details ourselves. Your use of the payment provider’s service is also subject to that provider’s own terms and privacy policy.
3.4. By subscribing, you authorise us (through our payment provider) to charge the subscription fee to your chosen payment method.
4. Automatic renewal and cancellation
4.1. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing term (monthly or annual, depending on your plan), and your payment method will be charged the then-current price for the next term, unless you cancel before the renewal date. At least one reminder email will be sent prior to the renewal date.
4.2. You may cancel your subscription at any time before the renewal date, effective at the end of your current paid term. After cancellation you will retain access until the end of the term you have already paid for, and your subscription will not renew.
4.3. You can manage or cancel your subscription by contacting us at hello@curiousowl.ae.
4.4. If a subscription ends or a renewal payment fails, access for the account holder and any child profiles is paused after a short grace period. We keep the account and its progress for 12 months so you can rejoin and pick up where you left off. After that period, or earlier if you ask us, we delete the account and its information.
5. Money-back guarantee and refunds
5.1. We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on the first payment of yearly and Family subscriptions. Monthly subscriptions can be cancelled at any time but are not covered by the guarantee. If you are not satisfied, you may request a full refund within 7 days of your initial purchase by contacting us at hello@curiousowl.ae, and we will refund the amount paid for that subscription term.
5.2. Except for the 7-day money-back guarantee described above, subscription fees are non-refundable, including for partially used terms, unless a refund is required by applicable law.
5.3. Refunds are made to the original payment method and may take a number of days to process depending on your payment provider.
5A. Referral credit
5A.1. Each account holder’s family has one referral code. When a new member joins through a referral link or code and enters it at their account within 14 days, they receive AED 20 credit toward their next payment. The new member must log in to their account within 7 days of joining for the referral to be recorded.
5A.2. About 14 days after the new member’s first payment, if their membership is still active and has not been refunded or charged back, the referring family receives AED 30 credit toward its next renewal. A family can earn up to 5 referral rewards in any 12 months.
5A.3. Referral credit has no cash value, cannot be transferred, exchanged for cash, or used to buy a gift membership, and is applied automatically to your subscription invoices while your membership is active. Credit is lost if your membership is cancelled or ends.
5A.4. Only new members can earn or receive a reward, and each person can be referred once. If a referred membership is refunded, charged back, or cancelled before the reward is added, no reward is added, and any credit already given may be removed. We may withhold or remove credit for self-referrals, duplicate accounts, or misuse.
6. The content and what it is (and is not)
6.1. The Service provides general information and self-paced content on topics such as understanding money, using new technology and artificial intelligence, staying safe online, creating online, earning income, and preparing for work.
6.2. The content is provided for general information purposes only. It is not professional advice and must not be relied upon as such. Safety and first-aid content is general guidance only and is not a substitute for proper training or for contacting emergency services.
6.3. In particular, any content relating to money, tax, borrowing, saving, or similar subjects is general information about how such things work. It is not financial, investment, tax, or legal advice, is not a recommendation to buy, use, or avoid any product or service, and does not take account of any individual’s circumstances. It does not reference or endorse any specific institution, product, or provider. You should seek advice from a suitably qualified professional before making any financial or other significant decision.
6.4. The content is general in nature and may not be suitable for every individual. We do not guarantee any particular outcome, result, or benefit from using the Service.
7. Acceptable use
7.1. You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must not:
- copy, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, resell, or create derivative works from any part of the content, except as expressly permitted;
- share your account or allow access by more people than your subscription permits;
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems;
- upload or transmit any malicious code, or interfere with the proper working of the Service;
- use the Service in any way that is unlawful, harmful, or that infringes the rights of others;
- use any automated means to access, scrape, or copy the Service without our permission.
7.2. We may suspend or terminate access to any account that we reasonably believe has breached these Terms.
8. Intellectual property
8.1. All content, materials, text, graphics, logos, designs, and other elements of the Service are owned by or licensed to Curious Owl and are protected by intellectual property laws. The “Curious Owl” name and logo are our property.
8.2. Subject to your compliance with these Terms and payment of applicable fees, we grant you and your household a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the content for personal, non-commercial use during your subscription. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
9. Availability and changes to the Service
9.1. We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or always available. The Service may be temporarily unavailable for maintenance, updates, or reasons beyond our control.
9.2. We add, update, and improve content over time, and we may change, add, or remove features, topics, or content at our discretion. We will not reduce the core benefits of a subscription term you have already paid for in a material and detrimental way without offering a reasonable remedy.
10. Disclaimers
10.1. The Service and all content are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
10.2. We do not warrant that the content is complete, accurate, current, or suitable for any particular purpose, or that use of the Service will achieve any particular result.
11. Limitation of liability
11.1. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Curious Owl will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
11.2. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or related to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the amount you paid to us for the subscription in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
11.3. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
12. Indemnity
12.1. You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Curious Owl and its owners, officers, and personnel from any claims, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your breach of these Terms or your misuse of the Service.
13. Suspension and termination
13.1. You may stop using the Service and cancel your subscription at any time as described in Section 4.
13.2. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Where we discontinue the Service entirely, we will provide reasonable notice and, where appropriate, a pro-rata refund of any prepaid, unused subscription period.
13.3. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will continue to apply.
14. Privacy
14.1. Our handling of personal information, including information relating to children, is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. Please read it carefully.
15. Changes to these Terms
15.1. We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do and where changes are material, take reasonable steps to notify account holders. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
16. Governing law
16.1. These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Arab Emirates.
16.2. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms will be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of the United Arab Emirates.
